thirty fun!

last weekend, my friend dan and i went to camp! to celebrate the marriage of two very dear friends and to celebrate my thirty first birthday. it was a busy weekend and there were only about 10 minutes where the sky was blue, so i ran down to the dock and took a few pictures of the changing leaves. i love camp!

mom and dad are closing it up in a week or so. breaks my heart every year.

a very early morning at camp

this past mother's day, i took the train upstate to surprise my mom at camp. you will rarely hear me complain about camp (it is my favorite place on earth, after all) but my father wakes up at the crack of dawn every morning and turns the tv to its maximum volume. i'm deaf and i can hear it through the wall in my room - it wakes me up every time. and i usually raise hell about it. but on mother's day, it was so beautiful down by the lake that i just had to grab my camera, my sister, copper and bronze (my parents' dogs) and a cup of coffee and head down to the dock. i can't remember a more peaceful or beautiful morning.

this is probably the only time in my life i will ever thank you for waking me up, dad. :)

camp and the ducks who live there

everyone is always asking me about camp because i'm always talking about camp and how awesome it is. camp is my family's summer house in the adirondacks and it's the most beautiful and wonderful place on earth. i always feel so at peace when i'm there...the lake, the fresh air, family, friends...it's awesome. i'm sure there will be a lot of camp pictures on this blog, but for now here are a couple i took of the house from our boat and a bunch of the family of ducks that come back every summer. when i was last there, i spent the better part of an afternoon watching the ducks swim, nap, squawk, fish and interact with each other. it was fascinating - they all have such different personalities. i took about 8 billion pictures of them. here are just a few. pay close attention to the male - the colors on his head and underfeathers are so brilliant, it's hard to believe they exist in nature.

i wish i were there right now.
